Brief Description:  Engine Exhaust System 1/4

Engine Exhaust System
- Given the engine/cowling constraints issues, a commercially available off-the-shelf system could not be readily found. Thus decided to manufacture a cross over system for the IO-360 engine in my workshop.
- Welding equipment used was a BOC SMOOTHARC TIG 185 system with argon gas
- Pipe material was 1/16" stainless steel tubing (1.75" header pipes and 2" exhaust pipes)
- Lycoming standard exhaust flanges supplied by Aircraft Spruce.

Initial mock-up of the crossover was prepared from 1.75" and 2" PVC pipes using standard 22.5. 45 and 90 degree bends. The mock-up allowed the detailed routing of the pipes and the locating of the various junctions for the system. It also provided an opportunity to check for clearances to intake pipes, engine crank case and cowling.

The final arrangement was then used to finetune the alignment and precutting of the various pipe sections and bends.
