Brief Description:  Primed AST parts

This session was primarily to prime all of the Anti Serve Tab (AST) parts, but I had one replacement rudder rib to do, and the inside of the overlap on the rudder skin which I had forgotten last time around.

Usual Deoxidine/Scotchbrite treatment. The 8 AST ribs are match-drilled so their relative positions should be retained. Deoxidine removes Sharpie part number markings in a flash, so I had to keep track of what part goes where.

I found spraying the primer quite difficult. It's not easy to cover the flanges on small parts unless you rotate them and spray multiple times. Paint gets thick, streaky, and no doubt heavy. However, I believe I am spending most of my primer money on putting multiple layers on the floor of my spray booth. Maybe rattle cans are cheaper after all.

Pictures include my big water "trough" in which I rinse the Deoxidine off the parts, and before and after shots of the AST skins. I had to prop them open with a block of wood to spray the primer. Obviously this meant I had to go back and overspray the areas masked by the "props".
