Brief Description:  Yet more debugging

I was not happy with the weight & balance, as I had fogotten to mount the main wheels on two-inch chocks. I therefore repeated the exercise. And this moved the CG back a bit, which is a good thing.

Somewhere along the way I discovered that fuel was still leaking at the under-floor bulkhead junction. I got Greg to modify one of my spanners so that I could nip up the joint just a little tighter. Seems OK now. Having banished the fuel leaks, I got all the carpet up again, and tried to eliminate the smell with vinegar, baking soda, and Febreze.

My inspector, Tim, showed up recently to start the inspection process. He spotted that one flaperon went up 7 degrees further than the other one. I cannot explain this, but it needed to be fixed. I ended up once again stripping out the trim and "raising the floorboards". I adjusted the rigging by varying the length of the long torque tubes. I also spotted that the right stick was not vertical in the neutral position. So I had to adjust its torque tube too. These tasks were not straightforward. In particular the replacement of the bolt, washers, and nut on the stick torque tube. It took me 5 hours do do up one nut and bolt. Never again - I hope.

I had never been happy with the way the ASI and altimeters leaked air, so several attempts were made to overcome this. With Tim's help we finally spotted air leaking from the junction between the pitot tube and the plastic tube that butts up to it. A good dose of silicone seems to have fixed this once and for all.
