Today I worked on the landing light.
Picture 1 shows the area to be cut out of the leading edge for the landing light. Again, marked up with a paper template. New rivet and screw holes have already been drilled.
Picture 2 shows the gaping hole, dremelled and cleaned up, with the screw holes dimpled.
Picture 3 (a bit grotty) shows the inside of the wing, where I had to install mounting brackets for the landing light.
The wiring was a bit of a nightmare. I had to pull three wires and another string through the length of the wing, two for the landing light power and pulse, and one for the nav/strobe light at the wingtip. After several attempts I ended up pulling everything out as I was in danger of breaking the string which would have been a BIG problem. Fortunately Keith came along at just the right time, and showed me how to strip several inches of wire, wrap them all together and pull them all through in one go. Although the wire length measurements are to the inch, there is sufficient slack, which I had not checked.
I used my 12-volt supply to apply power to the terminals at the wing root to prove that everything works as it should - and it does!
