Brief Description:  Guess what - more sanding

Today I got started on sanding down the ridges in the tailcone...and turned tired before the job was done.

Having learned the hard way, I had a go at the two cowling pieces. This time after the squeegee I brushed down the epoxy to get a smooth finish. I also applied epoxy to the inner surfaces. Allegedly, this make it easier to clean up whatever mess happens in the engine compartment.

Along the way I managed to catch one of the wing wiring terminals on my trousers, and broke it off. Fortunately the kit included a couple of spares and some rivets, so I was able to unscrew the assembly, drill out the stub, and replace the terminal. This was just the motivation I required to go and order the optional lighting kit so that these terminals are used. Bang goes another $1300, plus VAT and shipping in due course. All for the sake of having strobes, and a landing light. The nav lights and the interior light (if I fit it) are unlikely to be used in a day-VFR plane. This does mean that the wings won't be ready for painting until I have fitted the lights.

While at the computer, I made some fiendish calculations and placed an order for Sherwin Williams aviation paint. I daren't say how much this is going to cost. A friendly car bodyshop painter came and sized up the job. He wants to do it, so this is a leap of faith for him and me. I really hope this works out.
