Brief Description:  Plumbing the fuel cut-off valve

The first picture shows the fuel line travelling right to left forward towards the fuel valve. Note the grommet (or snap bushing) is on the pipe but not in the bulkhead. The grommets need to be removed from the bulkhead to allow the pipe to pass through, and are then reinserted into the bulkheads. If I had known this, I would not have inserted them at the time shown in the plans.

A noter had advised that the plastic system blocks should be countersunk on the bottom face where they fit over the "posts", so that they lie flush on the floor. The note came with a health warning to ensure the blocks are well anchored before drilling because the drill bit pulls through the plastic faster than you can blink. I had anchored mine all but for half an inch, and then drilled them in the pillar drill. I still had difficulty with the plastic being pulled up into the drill. If you elect to countersink, I would recommend placing a block of wood over the length of the system block with a hole drilled through the point where you wish to drill into the block. You will need to mark the drill bit to cut to the right depth.

Picture 2 shows the fuel cut-off valve. This is very much work in progress. For a start the barrel of the valve needs to be rotated 90 degrees, it is currently in the wrong position as shown in the photo. Also the white (epoxy primer) bracket is just clecoed and the retaining piece has not yet been fitted.

In my enthusiasm to paint everything grey I had not realised that these brackets are below floor level and not normally visible!
