Brief Description:  Prepare parts for Forward Lower Fuselage

This is painting week. I finally decided I would paint interior parts as I go forward from this stage. I have white two-pack epoxy primer from Light Aero Spares, and I have my expensive Jetflex water reducible grey polyurethane paint in a silk finish. But I'm getting ahead of myself...

More work on the forward fuselage parts first. Picture 1 shows the four Rudder Pedal Support Channels. One is different to the others, as it does not need to be dimpled for nutplates, in spite of being drilled for them. More confusing is the requirement to dimple two holes at the rear. I was uncertain whether to dimple these. One noter says no, but the plans further on indicate that this part should be dimpled but one of the others should not.. I ended up dimpling the rear holes for all four parts. (It seems the starboard channel is just there to support the battery - I therefore don't think the holes need to be dimpled).

Picture 2 shows a bracket for for the gascolator that needs to be fabricated from aluminium angle. There's no easy way to clamp this part while match drilling through the firewall. I marked the holes with a Sharpie pen then drilled them on the pillar drill. If I was to do it again, I think I would just hold a block of wood in the angle and hope it did not slip as I drilled.

Picture 3 shows other parts - cowl attachment brackets, the cooler stiffener, and the Flo-scan fuel flow mount bracket. I believe there are two possible options for this device and the bracket appears to have redundant holes to cater for both variants. I dug out the Flo-scan device that came with my kit to establish which holes it mounts to - top left and bottom right.
