Brief Description:  Inspection of fuselage

Much of today was taken up with priming the big bottom skin, and the corner skins, prior to final assembly. I really needed to assemble the big paint booth for the bottom skin, but decided this could be accomplished in the small booth if I cut a big slot in one of the side walls. These are getting covered in primer, and really need to be recovered. I therefore sabotaged the small booth for the sake of expediency, and resolved to recover it soon. As it happened, the priming went well, except I forgot to prime some skin Doublers, so this will have to be done later. This would not prevent the skin being attached as the Doublers go on the outside of the skin.

I had to get the fuselage inspected by Tim before riveting the bottom skin, and I had booked an appearance in anticipation. Tim showed up as agreed and Pictures 1-3 show the inspection in progress - the beer is mine, not his! In fact, Tim found a handful of empty rivet holes. I had misread the plans and left some holes open at the time. I'm pleased Tim spotted this as the missing rivets were on the flaperon mixer assembly. Wouldn't do for this to come adrift.

While waiting for Tim to arrive, I had some time to start preparation of parts for the forward fuselage assembly up to the firewall. No pictures here though.
