The bottom rib is attached to the rudder horn with six solid rivets and two pop rivets. The horn comes ready welded and painted. Pictures include top and bottom shots.
Next I rivetted this subassembly to the rudder spar. Six solid rivets later, I am stopped in my tracks as I cannot figure out how to do the last two.
In addition to the plans I have a photo I printed from the VAF web-site. Now it's obvious. Doh, I have riveted the thing on the wrong way round. Just as the revelation dawns Sandra arrives to inspect my handiwork. Must be a real confidence-booster seeing me taking things to bits.
After last week's experience I was really careful with drilling out the rivets - success. Ten minutes and eight rivets later we are done with this step.
