Brief Description:  Main Wheel Fairings

Got the plane jacked up with a standard floor jack with a 21.5 inch lift, and a 12 inch adapter I found on Ebay, along with a few 2x6's stacked on top, the width of the fuselage. Worked great, got the plane about a half inch off the ground, and then I put some shims under the nose gear to level the plane on the longerons, and a small shim under the left tire to level the plane side to side. Then I pulled some parallel strings on the floor to the centerline of the plane, and to each tire, and one in the middle. Then I used the string method to align the leg fairings, and the wheel fairings. I clamped them in place, and marked them for future removal. Then I worked on the left wheel fairing. Trimmed the tire opening, and the opening for the axle, and then drilled the two halves together. Then I drilled them to the outboard brackets. Then I removed them and added a couple layers of glass where they will attach to the brackets on both sides. After those cure, I'll drill them to the inboard brackets, and finally attach the platenuts. Now I'm waiting for my intersection fairings which were supposed to be here two weeks ago, and my instrument panel, which was supposed to be here a month ago. Oh yeah, and my preheater, which should come tomorrow or the next day. Friday I get to have some real fun at the doctor's office, so I'm looking forward to that. Sunday, off to Oshkosh.
