Brief Description: Tips, Cowl
|
|
Removed the HS tips from the HS, and cleaned them up, then preped them and riveted them on. There was one little place in the right HS tip that needed a little touch up with filler, so I did that. Then I worked on smoothing the cowl nose around the spinner where the fit wasn't perfect. I don't like working with fiberglass, but it does have its benefits, you can shape it as you need to and it's very forgiving. Most mistakes are easily fixed. After I got that cleaned up, I sanded the entire surface again, and rinsed both halves off. Then I started thinking about the wing tips. First I had to align the ailerons correctly, so I found my alignment tool that I made over a year ago probably, when finishing the wings, and discovered that I had made a mistake when making it. Oh well, no biggie. Now that I understand it's purpose and how I am supposed to use it, it was much easier to make another one. Then, I made the spacers for the aileron installation. Then, using the alignment tool, I got the alignment of the right aileron done, and the jam nuts tightened and torque sealed. Then I started looking at the tip, and how it goes on. It will take some considerable trimming, I think.
