Brief Description:  MAP Line, Cowling

I started by re-riveting the airbox, because I used round head rivets where I should have used countersunk rivets. The round head rivets were not allowing the airbox mount plate to mount flush to the airbox, which could have allowed air leakage out of the airbox, potentially reducing performance. Couldn't have that, so drilled out the rivets holding the platenuts and filter clips on, and countersunk everything and re-riveted. Then I smashed the foam block into the snorkle, trimming it a little too to get it to fit snug, put a little goop around the edges and smashed it into the snorkle cavity again, and put it aside to let it cure a bit. In the mean time, I installed the Manifold Pressure MAP line, with a reducer on the engine port. Drilled through the firewall, and installed the actual sensor on one of the panel support ribs. I still have to order some tubing that will go from the bulkhead fitting to the sensor. Finally, I re-installed the lower cowl, and started trimming the foam to match the inlet. I used a small hack saw blade and that worked very well. In no time, I had it trimmed to match the inlet to the FAB real nice. Next I'll lay up some fiberglass to fill the gap where the foam is, and get that finished up. That's close to 80 hours working on the plane in April. Whew, if only all months could be like this one, I'd be flying in a couple months.
