Brief Description:  Riveting Ribs to Front Spars

Riveted in tank attach center platenuts to the right front spar. I tried back riveting them holding a bucking bar behind, because I already had all the ribs cleco'd in, and I didn't want to take them all off to lay the spar on the floor to back rivet, like I did successfully with the left spar, but the second rivet I put in didn't turn out good, so I had to drill it out. Then I decided to take off all the ribs, and do what I know works. It turned out good. Next, I started riveting the ribs to the front spar, using my upside down method. Worked real good. I used a couple of old baby socks to wrap around the rivet gun, and the bucking bar and I used these nifty little snap soc rivet set caps from Avery tools. They work really well. The manufactured heads of my rivets stay really nice. Highly recommend those for these 470 rivets. I finished the right spar, and got the inboard most 4 ribs on the left spar. Those are the toughest because they are so close together. So what I did, was start on #4 from the inboard most rib (#1), took the others out to access the one I was riveting. That way, I had room, and the way the rib lays against the main spar, I could work inboard on the next rib. #'s 5 through 15 aren't as tough, and I chose to leave those in. I'll finish riveting next session, and be ready to rivet on the rear spars, and flip the wings over to attach to the rig.
