Brief Description:  Drilling the Firewall

After clamping and reclamping the firewall a few times to get it exactly where I wanted it, I drilled the side skins and bottom skins to the firewall. Then I match drilled the bottom skin to the center bottom skin. Then I drilled the corner ribs to the side skin, and the outboard seat ribs to the side skin. Then I removed the forward bottom skin, and made the holes for the gear legs and brake lines and vent lines. I messed up and made the vent lines 5/8ths instead of 7/16ths, so I'll have to figure out something when it comes time to install those vent line connections. Maybe a washer on either side of the skin will do it, but I'm not sure until I see and trial fit the connection. I deburred the gear holes, and the step holes while I had the mini grinder out with the scotch wheel on it. Then, I fit the 713L Aux longeron, drew a centerline on the back, gave it a little twist, and trimmed it to fit against the 904 bulkhead. I lined up the holes and drilled every 4th hole or so. I'll finish drilling that tomorrow. I ordered my stick grips today, from CH Products. Full function on the pilot side, PTT only on the co-pilot side. I also finally worked out the center console ordering issues I was having. I talked to Dayton Murdoch and he is making me a single lever throttle quadrant to fit the center console. I had to order a special Andair fuel valve that will have return line fittings for the Subaru. I should be ordering that in a day or two.
