Brief Description:  Wing Skins

Today I worked on getting the wing skins on the top left wing. I clecoed the in board and out board skins on and drilled them, than moved the cleco’s and drilled some more. Then the deburring started, first the skins then the ribs. I used my rechargeable drill to deburr most of it. You have to be careful you don't get carried away and c'sink the hole to much. I was on a roll so I also dimpled the skins, ribs and rear spar. The hole opened up a little when I dimpled the skins and ribs. I think this is okay because the rivet should swell up when I buck it. Than I machined c'sinked the main spar with a micro stop. I read in the manual that you should lightly c'sink the ribs so the skin will seat flat. I found that I needed to c’sink them to about .235” to get the skins to lay flat. I almost forgot to do the wing walk doubler that had been drilled earlier. I still need to work on the over lap at the inner and outer skins. The manual said to file the edge of the inner down to get rid of the bump that is made when the two skins are over lapped and are clecoed together. For the most part it was a fun day.
