Drew up the templates for the canopy hoops and found they were already bent to the correct radius but about 6 inches too long at both ends
The canopy itself sat very nicely on the rear hoop with the front of the canopy 190mm back from the firewall. At peresent it is about 1/4 inch off the fuselage. I will probably need to shorten the hoop just a fraction, althoiugh the rubber trim may fill the gap.
Set up the gas struts which are too long and allow the canopy to open more than 70 degrees. This has caused interference as the side cover (6C3-3) catches on the top fuselage longeron (when the canopy is fully open).
This was fixed by trimming the side cover a fraction and also shortening the gas struts. To do this I ground about 4mm off each of the 4 fittings on the ends of the strut. It would have been easier to extend the thread on the struts and then shorten the shaft. Problem is that the shaft of the strut is hardened.
