Brief Description: Convert HS struts for Profiled ribs mod
Worked on changing Horizontal Stabilizer for installing the profiled wooden ribs. This requires changing the angle of incidence from 4 to 3 degrees with some ability to adjust for trim after test flights. So I'm adding adjustable AN470 fittings to the HS strut brace vs the fixed length plans version.
After a little research, found where MG detailed the mod to profiled ribs and that it required reducing the bushing size by 3/8". Leveled the plane and removed the bushings.
Right(passenger) bushing was 0.5875" for 4 deg - 0.375" = .2125" Left (pilot) bushing was 0.505 for 4 deg - 0.375" = .130"
Made new bushing from 3/8" x .058 tube and sanded to final size.
Installed struts and marked for cutting. Cut and added AN470 fittings to end of struts.
Decided I would stay with 3/16" bolts and not go up to the 1/4" bolts that the clevis ends use. This required making some 1/4" x .028 bushings. I had observed some of the kit aircraft that use the 1/4" bolts and there seemed to be some minor interference issues.
