Brief Description: Start of fitting for Van's FAB and RV-6 scoop
Started fit up VAN's RV-6 scoop and the FAB. Trying to determine where the cut line should be on the scoop. As is, without modification the top of FAB inlet is 2" below the lower cowl skin.
I thought a 2" cut line would put too abrupt angle for the new flange. Thought 3" would be stronger, look better and may even put the intake in cleaner air.
This will mean that the FAB top plate will have to be bent down an inch and the fiberglass bowl slit, bent down and fiberglassed to cover slit opening.
More work. Wonder if it will pay off in looks and performance??
