Brief Description:  Prelim fit canopy frame

Worked a little more to finish up the inventory of Finishing Kit. Need to organize the parts & pieces for each task ahead. The shipping crate is now standing in the corner for storage but needs shelves for parts. (Pics later) Plexi-glass canopy in the spare bedroom.

Began working on the preliminary fit of the canopy frame, too narrow for the fuselage and needs to be spread laterally at the splice plate (C-614 more than 1/4"). In order to get the 5/8th" spacing from F-668, the hinge needs to pass through the F-668. Cut a preliminary slot, but with the lateral width established, the hinges are too wide to pass into slots. The hinge is restricted in movement by front of the frame, not by any rivets or welds (#3). Although it looks welded in the pic, it is actually allowed to float left/right in a slot in the frame and the slot is too narrow. Needs 1/8th" enlargement of slots on both hinges to bring hinges in toward centerline. Then the weldment can be attached to the frame (rivets) when the dimension for the hinges is finalized - later.

This task is like herding cats, there are too many moving parts, going in different directions, simultaneously. Needs tape, cleco clamps, C-clamps, spacers, and six arms. Little by little starts to take shape. Measure three or four or five times, then think about cutting - carefully, and adjust as necessary.
