Brief Description:  Backup Avionics - Dynon D2

Received the Dynon D2 and did some testing at home to familiarize with the operation, charging, adjusting, and possible interfacing with another WiFi instrument. The D2 is continuously transmitting WiFi signals but is limited to specific Levil and another spec. Tested with an iPad app (AHRS GPS) was not very encouraging and it does not seem to work with ForeFlight, at least not at this time.

Will be used as a stand-alone instrument for fail-safe mode of flying where total independence and basic instruments should provide a margin of safe to get on the ground. Installation of the mount in the RV-6A panel needs to be consistent with that objective, i.e., remove and insert without disruption of the "level in pitch & roll" attitudes.

Power can be from a USB or power plug SPECIFIC to the Dynon D2 and nothing else, 5VDC. The car adapter meets that need. The battery should be charged fully for flight and not depend on power in-flight to use for backup as this would limit the unexpected use before charge is achieved.

It's mount high and centered to be visible and not obscure the COMM panel from the right seat. Although on a RAM mount the position should not be changed once established.
