Spent many hrs over the last week, and more $'s, researching and acquiring alternative (backup) option for GPS moving map, and flight info. Decided on an Apple iPad Mini 2, 32GB WiFi-only, and a Blue Tooth GPS. Decided on a Bad Elf Pro Blue Tooth GPS receiver. (result - The WiFi-only version has no GPS chip built-in, and the Cellular version GPS chip is lower performance than a dedicated external GPS receiver.)
With the ForeFlight app and an annual subscription, the iPad Mini will have AFD info, airport diagrams, and FAA Sectionals refreshed every 28 days. This is a resonably economical backup to the Dynon SkyView, and a way to add some 'additional panel real estate' to a busy single SV 10" panel.
