Brief Description:  2012 CopperState EAA Fly-in

Okay, it's not really 'building' but it fits the definition of learning and that's what Experimental is all about. Attended the 2012 EAA CopperState Fly-in at Casa Grande AZ.

Concentrated on Dynon avionics, inspecting as many RV's as possible, and admiring the reason many builders may become repeat offenders, the new RV-14.

As I approach the acquisition decision for avionics, it has become very clear that Dynon has a commanding market position with Vans Aircraft, as demonstrated by the new RV-14 demo aircraft, and the standard equipment for the RV-12. That pretty well cinched my decision.

If a perfect world, I'd wake up tomorrow and start on an RV-14A QB, and finish sooner than the remainder of this RV-6A project. They have incorporated many improvements in the design which will make it a great kit to construct. An inovative new canopy latch and canopy brace were readily apparent, as was the 'center console/tunnel' design that accomodates fuel components, wiring, control cables, and other features. Wing attach points outside the fuselage, too.

Good discussion with the Dynon rep, and follow-up with the Vertical Power exhibit. Hope to be flying by this time next Fly-in.
