Enlarged the hole in the floor much more than intended, but it's unavoidable. The thought would be that with a 1/2" tube the hole would be 5/8th, more or less. The problem is the cotter pin, and retenstion washer on the tube, they need room to move and avoid interference. However, the overriding interference is fitting the floor OVER the tube AND get the front lip over the spar. The hole is now larger than the required for the aileron trim handle, but necessary for fiiting the floor. This was not clear in any instructions.
The solution is to keep the tube short, and place a cosmetically appealing cover on the vertical tube. The cover 'floats' freely and hides the hole and cotter pin/washer under. I also chose to gracefully bend the lever down to minimize possible snagging issues.
