Brief Description:  Tail jack stand -

After visiting Mike Andresen's RV-10 project recently, I decided that his tail support using a Harbor Frt "high lift" jack stand (shortened to fit under the tail tie-down), was a good idea. Shopped and picked one up. Assembled but too dark outside to set up and cut off the excessive leg height.

The beauty of the stand it the ability to use a jack-screw to accurately raise the tail, for leveling the fuselage during wing attach and later positioning of critical avionic components. In addition a secure tail support will be needed to avoid an unintended 'tail dragger conversion' when on the gear before the engine is hung for counter-balance.

So. Good idea and it will save the clutter of sawhorses, pads, and physical strain of lifting the tail to adjust the level.

Consolidated entry to reflect cut-down, and tie-down attachment bracket fabricated. (And, inserted tail jack under tie-down.)
