Brief Description:  Installing Axles, Brakes, and Brakelines

01/13/2008 I set the fuselage and aligned and leveled it in preparation to setting the toe in angle.
02/09/2008 I cut the end of the landing gear to fit the Matco brakes and wheels.
03/21/2008 I started back on the main landing gear by sanding the legs to get them flat.
03/22/2008 I layed up 3 BID on the gear, let it get tacky and then floxed on the axles and metal support plate on the back. I used a laser pen to align to the wall. I used a laser line to verify that my center line and the point on the wall were perfectly in line. I used the centerline of the axle to measure 68.55" gear spread (34.275" from the center line). The laser pen diameter is 0.2" The axle flange and the torque plate are 0.6" thick. 0° incidence is then 35.075" from the gear spread. The gear is 184.25" from the wall. The plans indicated that it should be 1" for every 20'; therefore, my toe in should be 0.76" towards the center or 34.31" from the center, almost back to the gear spread mark. I made sure that I measured at 0.73", which is the height of the gear fro mthe floor.
03/23/2008 I took off the clamps and cleaned up a little. I drilled out the bolt holes on the left gear.
12/31/2008 I cut out the landing gear box top cover foam. The horizontal piece I also cut out 2 lightening holes that will provide access into the box. They will need to be covered with something.
01/01/2009 I covered two holes that I had drilled in the wrong place that was for the brake lines with some micro and a layer of BID on each side. I also attached the tubing that will act as a conduit for the brake line with 5 minute expoxy and then covered it with
01/02/2009 I layed up 2 layers of BID on the outside of the landing gear box.
