The foam preparation for the rudder ribs on the winglet and the rudder were completed. I realized that the internal bellhorn was installed in the same place that the lower hinge was supposed to be placed. I looked in the archives and there was another builder that had the same problem. Some builders have cut the layups supporting the bellhorn and some have moved the hinge up about 2.5 to 3". I chose to do the later. The moment arm moving 3" is small. The impact on the strength of the bellhorn attachment is not clear when the layups are trimmed.
The foam was dug out about 1.25" vs the plans ~ 1". This extra room is needed to allow for a good radius of the 3 BID laying into the rib cavity while still providing a good flat surface for the hinge attachment.
