The spackling was sanded to a final finish. The surrounding fiberglass was sanded and cleaned up. A coat of primer paint was applied to the spakling to prepare for applying tape. After the paint dried, a layer of duct tape was applied to the spackling to provide for a good release. A peel ply layer was added to the top of the duct tape and wetted out. Then two layers of BID was layed down over the peel ply and onto the surrounding cowling fiberglass. A layer of peel ply was applied to the outside to provide a smooth finish. The center cut was covered on the outside of the cowl with two layers of BID.
