Brief Description:  Wing Tip Left side

Over the weekend I work on the left wing tip, the right tip should go much faster after I get the left tip done. Again, it is a learning process. It is a lot of cutting, filing and sanding in order to nesle the tip into the front portion of the rib and along the wing skin. It is looking fairly good and with one or two more rounds with the file I will be ready to tape the tip inplace and drill the tip to the paino hinge. When you cut the complete lip off the tip, be sure to cut it straight along the edge, by using a 1/2 inch flat steel, as a guide. Straight is very important. The only way to get the nose into the tip of the wing is to cut it down to 1/2 inch along the lip and then file somemore. Keep all you cuts close around the aft and foward paino hinge for appearance, by doing this you will not have additional work later adding fiberglass to the tip. Once you get close you begin to feel like it was all worth it! It takes time and I'm far from done, but at least I know a little more about all the cuts for my right tip. Go to Mark Phillips RV6a website for all the details and much more.
