Brief Description:  Prop spinner fabrication, IFR pitot/static check

Marked and cut spinner to fit around prop. Mounted front spinner plate to prop and installed spinner; adjusted washers on front plate to make good fit with spinner and drilled mounting holes. Removed spinner and installed plate nuts on forward spinner plate. Reinstalled spinner and trimmed cut-out pieces to make gap filler behind prop. Sandwiched prop blade between two 2x4s to make lever to rotate blade and verify clearance to spinner cutout. Cut plates to connect gap fillers to main spinner. Beneath fuselage, drilled 3/16" drain holes at low points in fuselage.

Kenneth Romm arrived to do IFR check. Found that connector at transponder antenna faulty; able to make a connection and complete transponder check but connecter will have to be replaced. See paper logbook sticker for transponder and encoder system check entry. Next, the pitot/static system was checked for leaks and none found. Took static from -1000' to 18000' and recorded values from the BMA sensor. Loaded the values into the altitude system calibration page and performed the altimeter check. See paper logbook sticker for altimeter check entry. Performed a quick check of the airspeed indicators; they read equal but lower than Kenneth's standard by about 4 knots.
