Brief Description:  First engine start

Pulled aircraft from hangar and chocked it in position so prop blast would not interfere with hangars or other aircraft. Positioned truck behind aircraft and chained tail tie-down to truck hitch. With assistance from Brad Ransom, Larry Diebel, and Jim Jones (Judith Kelley video recording), I performed the initial startup. The engine ran well but there was no RPM indication from the engine monitor. I ran the engine to full power by guess and exercised the prop, which worked properly. After almost 5 minutes of uncowled running, I was signaled to shut down. The safety crew had noticed an oil leak, apparently from the base of the oil filler tube. No other problems noted.
