Brief Description:  Flight 57 - 120 lbs ballast, 1065 lbs gross

0.7 flight time, 1 landing. Takeoff was me + 120 lbs ballast + 13 gallons fuel = 1065 lbs gross, cg at 66.5" aft of datum. Landing was ~9.5 gallons fuel for 1044 lbs gross, cg at station 66.91" aft of datum. Much more authority of trim in the low speed range. My prior practice (solo) in the pattern was flaps 20, trim full back. It would hold about 85 mph at that point, and to go slower would require a little back pressure. With this ballast, trim full back was below 60 mph - it slipped to there for a moment on the base leg and I didn't wait to see how far it would go. Flight - noted lower rate of climb. Climbed out at 110 and 900 fpm (~3500' dalt). Solo climb is 125 mph and 1200 fpm - and that's not best rate, just a comfortable climb. Did slow flight with and without flaps. Turns, steep turns without flaps. Turns with flaps. Stalls with and without flaps. No real issues. Pattern was busy, so I cruised around listening to them for a few minutes, and did a 360 while descending 1000' (did the manuvers at 5500-6000). Used the handheld for comm - not great, but ok. Other points: Lightest flight 888 lbs gross, 66.42" cg. Most forwards 966 lbs gross, 64.75" cg. Overall comment - much more trim authority in the slow speed range. Concluded with a wheel landing which was smooth. Didn't do T&G's due to the busy pattern and the HH comm (no ptt for the mic, so was using the HH mic instead of the headset mic).
