Over the course of this week, spent a few minutes each day working on doubler plates for inside the wheel pants. Others have reported that the outer single-point attachment of the wheel pant can wear out over time, and many have bonded in a metal doubler plate. I made these from .090" so there would be many openings to fill with epoxy resin to prevent the plate from moving around. Then I secured them under 2 layers of BID. The hexagon is 3" across the flats, and the holes are 5/16" dia. The glass has a hole in the center so the axle will be in direct metal-to-metal contact with the doubler plate. Remaining steps to mounting will be to drill the holes to final size and tap the axles for 10-32.
