Made phenolic test parts from the 5/8" thick that Wicks accidentally packed (they sent the proper 3/4" thickness immediately when I told them). Found that unibit does a really good job of making the large diameter hole in the part, but I don't have a 1" diameter unibit, only 7/8. So I tried to use a spade bit to enlarge the hole from 7/8 to 1". Don't do this. The spade bit needs its center to cut a 1" dia hole. Without the center boring into the material, the tips actually pull the bit into a wider arc. The hole ended up at 1 1/4" dia. No good. At least it was a test. Will try another test to remind myself how miserable the spade bit is on its own. At least the holes will be the right size.
