Filed smooth the V notches along the upper edge. Now, where should the bend go. Decided to put the hand seamer right at the 1/2" line and see what happens. Bent the upper flanges over 135 degrees, again using the small piece of metal cut at 45 as a pattern. Held it up to the wing - seemed pretty good. Still had the most forwards "tab" on the upper and lower sides to bend. Looked like each of these could have been two or three tabs to fit the curvature more exactly, but the rivet goes right in the center. Bent these and fit it back on the wing. Looks good enough. Put some tape on some of the flanges to be able to pull the wing tip back out to the edge of the skin and drilled it. Did the bottom first, then the top, then the most forwards 2 rivets on top and bottom. Left the upper tab unbent at the spar to allow insertion of the "caveman" strap duplicator. Call it two scraps, four clecoes and a nail. But it worked perfectly to get the central holes at the spar tip and the price was right.
Caveman strap duplicator. Nail taped through the #40 hole.
13" long and about 2" wide to give the clecoes some wheelbase.
Tip drilled in position. Yes, the upper skin hangs over a little, and that's the way it is.
