Completed driving all rivets in the LH main spar. Went ahead and hand-hammered the protruding head rivets still to be set. This proved to be quite stable in the spar root area. I'm still glad I was able to use a rivet gun and bucking bar on the outer part of the spar. It went quickly and was about 99% error-free. Got 12 rivets to drill out from the hand-hammered root area still because the heads weren't all the way flush when set. It's not really possible to tell this when hammering, though I guess I could have back-tapped around each one before setting. Still, 12 errors in maybe 120 rivets isn't too bad. Now I have the process down for the flush rivets on the RH spar. Should be maybe 3 more hours work on that one, plus the re-do's, then the spar is done.
