Brief Description: welded parts
|
|
Noticed that there was a price increase on the welded parts, sometime between 4/06 (when I last planned the amounts) and now. It's $400 more just on the welded parts I don't have yet. The parts I do have remained the same price. Interesting how the price change is on the pushrods and stuff under the seat, and not on the motor mount. Anyway, I planned out the lengths of all of the materials for the remaining welded parts needed, put them into a spreadsheet, sorted by material type so totals could be arranged for an order. Put that into Aircraft Spruce (buying a lot of 1 foot lengths where only 1/2" to 3 or 4" is needed), and found that it's just under $200 of material, including the bolts that get welded in. Sonex wants roughly $1850 for this. At this cost difference, I need to look into getting welding done locally, even if it's buying a machine and learning myself. I can do a lot of learning for $1650, and then I'll know how to do something else.
