Made 3 or 4 more tries at the short fuel tube between the filter and the firewall. I'm not sure exactly how many, as one I put one of the nuts on backwards. That one I cut the flared ends off, got the hardware back and stuck it on another one. I ended up with 3 tubes - the original try, a 2nd try about 1/8" shorter, and a 3rd try a hair shorter than that. Hopefully one of these can be tweaked to fill the gap.
