Brief Description:  Cowling installation

Drilled a pilot hole for the under prop fastener hole from the inside out, then un-taped the joint and separated the two cowl halfs. The joiner plate feels very solid, but there is a void right at the edge of the cowl half that I may back fill with some epoxy. Drilled the fastener hole to final size from the outside. Put the cowling in place on the engine, with the exhaust pipes in place. This takes some careful maneuvering hooking the pipes through the opening as the first step. I would prefer to try running with the exhausts at the as-supplied length at first based on reading in the Yahoo groups archives about some that cut the pipes down only to add length back later. Identified a Southco stud that will work to hold the cowl closed under the prop. Sanded down the filler around the oil fill door hinge.
