Brief Description:  Flight training

Had my 2nd "get back into it" flight. Weather was much better - CAVU with winds light and variable. The instructor added some more tricks today - simulated engine out (twice) to show me I greatly overestimate the gliding distance of the S-12. Then about a dozen landings. About half of these were to try different flaps settings, and the other half were "once you pull the power, you can't add any back" from two different pattern altitudes. Standard pattern there is 400' AGL, but some of these "no power" test patterns we did from 1000' AGL. Showed me a lot about what the glide path should look like. He has a different way of presenting the "back side of the power curve". His is - if pitch is fixed, throttle controls power. If power is fixed, pitch controls power. Kind of a different way of looking at it, but it works.
