Brief Description:  Horizontal Stab Dimpling

Back from recurrent training. It’s good to be building again.
I attempted to dimple the left horizontal stabilizer skin. In order to remove the plastic film from around the rivet holes, I first masked off the rivet lines with masking tape to give the soldering iron and edge to follow. It worked well. However, when I attempted do dimple the skin by myself using only a C-frame, it became apparent that the skin should be properly supported on either side of the C-frame. This is difficult for one person to do and operated a mallet at the same time. Rather than risk damaging the skin, I worked on dimpling the understructure instead. Using a set of soft jaws purchased from the DIY store, I mounted my hand squeezer in my vice. This freed up one of my hands and gave me better control of the part. It worked well. With the exception of the skins, the ribs and spars of the horizontal stabilizer have been dimpled.
