I used a 1.5mm thick aluminum angle to fabricate the two braces, match drilled rivet holes through the internal spine, and riveted them in place. The tips fit nicely now.
After the install, I pulled up the airfoil and put in a SolidWorks sketch to check my work. It looks really close to the correct thickness, and once riveted in place it should look and perform well.
