Spent the day trying to recover from the setback of the first rudder problems. I error I made on the first rudder was in the layout of the tip rib to spar interface location. It appears that on one half of the skin I measured normal to the spar, and on the other half, I measured normal to the bend line...stupid mistake, but it resulted in the skin being skewed at the tip.
So, on to the rebuild. This morning I bent a new skin and re-layed out all the rib, stiffener and spar locations. Next, I bent up a new set of stiffeners, then cut them to length based on the skin layout. The stiffeners were then deburred, and holes drilled in them. The stiffener hole patterns were then used to drill the skins. Skins and stiffener holes were then deburred and dimpled. All parts have been primed and the stiffeners are ready to be riveted to the skins.
