Brief Description: Closing out the Horizontal Tail
Continued closing out the horizontal tail today. Got the bottom riveted and did the initial trim on the skins (pulled them back to 1.5 inches from the spar web) Final trim on the skins will be made after I have the elevators completed and rigged. I also plan on doing the final trim to the elevator stops at that time. You may note that in the center section, I welded some washers to the bottom of the hold-down tubes. I just thought that it might reduce the contact stress on the mating part and eliminate the posiible wear leading to loosening of the attach bolts. You may also note that I tapered the lower stop somewhat to make sure that there would be no interference with the welded attach bolt fittings on the fuselage. The blue stuff on the tips is Poly fibre Super Fil. It is like Bondo for airplanes. It is very light and should do well (once shaped) to make the tips look lke an integral part of the stabilizer.
