Brief Description:  Forward Spar

Worked on the forward spar splice plates. Aligned the centerline of the spar, cut and drilled in the slice plate to the aft face of the spar. Next I wanted to fit and install the flange splice plates. To do this, you need to know what the sweep angle of the forward spar is. As can be seen in picture, three, the forward spar has some sweep in it. However, the drawings are unclear as to how much sweep to put in. Looking at different spots on different drawings, you can justify anything from 1.8 inches to 3.5. Dick Eaves finally just measured his prototype planes and said that it looks like he built them with 2.5 inches of sweep. It really does not matter that much, but I would like to build my tail consistant with the flight proven design.
