Brief Description: Instrument panel initial fit and modification
With the lower bulkhead installed, I now focused on installing the instrument panel at FS; 22.75. The installed panel is shown in image 1. I should mention that once I installed the panel, I did a check of the alignment between the firewall, 14.25 and instrument panel to make sure the skin and canopy will lay down flush. I noticed that there were minor contour differences on the instrument panel that might interfere with the canopy when I get to that stage. The instrument panel should really have just a bit of clearance under the canopy. To ensure this, I changed the contour just a bit. This required remaking the somewhat difficult to make cap with two compound bends. The new fitting is on the bulkhead while the old one is shown in my hand in image 2 & 3.
