Brief Description: Lower Firewall Engine Mount Bracket Rework
Once I had a set of longerons, it was easy to see the correct angle needed on the steel attach fittings for proper longeron orientation tangent to the firewall skin. More to the point, it was easy to see that the fittings I made to the blue print angle was not optimal. (This is why Dick tells you in his assembly notes that the angle of this fitting needs to be determined on assembly....not by the blue print). At any rate, image 1 shows the difference between the fitting angle I had and the fitting angle I needed. The original angle was 9.1 degrees, but the angle I needed was 17.1 degrees.....but like Dick said, check your assembly as your mileage may vary. Since I was rebuilding the fitting, I bent the part with a fair amount of excess to allow me to simply draw where the longeron was eliminating any guessing on the trim lines. Also, I bent the fitting to allow me to add another steel leg outside of this primary leg. I will discuss that change to the design in the next update.
