Brief Description:  Correcting Spar Extrusions

Years ago, I bought some Spar center section extrusions from Mustang Aero. Dick Eaves then bent them for me using his tooling. For the extrusions to sit flat in the fixture, and to drill holes perpendicular and true, you really want both extrusions to lay parallel to each other. This means removing any twist that exists. Today, that is what I did. Pretty barbaric method, but I basically checked the extrusion in my fixture, and bumped minor twist sdjustments into it until it lays flat in the fixture.

One other feature of note, when I built my fixture per the sketch in the assembly manual, the curvature bent into the extrusions is not exactly right. In fact, when the ends are in the proper position, the center is about 0.20 inches too high. I'm not going to be able to adjust the bend without investing in the tooling, and learning curve, so I am going to attempt to adjust my plane to accomodate these extrusions. This will most likely mean downstream fit issues with the fuselage bottom and control routing. But, as we know, the plans are guidance, and not 100% correct all the time, so there is some amount of free spirit required.

One other note, the extrusions as trimmed by Dick are also about 1/8 inch too short, so, I'm going to split the differenc and make my fitting interface 1/16 inboard from print on both sides.
