Brief Description: Fuel tank mistake

It is a hot Texas summer, so I took a week to install a Big Ass Fan in the ceiling of the hangar. (no really, that is the actual name of the fan) it is 16 feet in diameter and does a really good job of moving all the blistering hot air from the ceiling, down to the floor. (image 1) All kidding aside, it does make you feel a bit cooler, but it is no air conditioner. The afternoon temperature in the hangar is typically about 103 degrees.
Okay, I post the good, bad and ugly in this log. Here is a mistake that I noticed when I looked at the fuel tank again. I noticed that I installed the fuel pick-up tube incorrectly. I ran the elbow fitting (exit) to the top of the tank in the position that Dick used to use for the vent line when he ran it inside the tank. I guess when the wing was in the fixture, I didn't think twice about a fuel pick-up that looked level. But when I looked at it again, I asked myself why in the world Dick would install the pick-up going uphill then down......after re-looking at the plans, he didn't, I did. So, I need to open the tank and move the pick-up. Image 2 shows the process of peeling the sealed access cover off the tank. So, the question of whether I could ever get into the tank again if I sealed the cover is yes......it's just really really hard. Image 3 shows the cover plate that was sealed in place for the old pick-up exit, and the new hole drilled in the lower left location.
