The main landing gear was rigged and tack welded in place. Image 1 shows a positioning block that I made to aid in clamping the gear leg to the mounting post. Once clamped, all of the key rigging dimensions could be established to position the axle base at the proper location in 3-dimensional space. I had to make a heavy duty 220V extension cord to allow me to relocate my welder to the wing fixture (shown in image 2). Finally, the gear mounting plate and gussets were all tack welded so that the gear mounts could be removed for final welding. (Image 3)
