Drilled fit and welded the pivot race for the new control horn then reamed to .3750. Also, If you look at the bellcrank comparison you will see some differences other than the length. On the first bellcrank, I blindly followed the plans and put a weld where the bellcrank hits the down stop. In the second bellcrank I avoided that area, but I did TIG the area witn no filler rod. I also changed the overall shape just a bit to make better contact with the stops. The final phot shows my resulting clearance to the control horns. It checks at .025. Should still be plenty even after paint.
